  ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ (1/5) Stayed at Spiritual Backpackers in Ujjain recently and honestly, it was a very disappointing experience. Looking at the online ratings on Google/Justdial/Booking sites, expectations were much higher, but the reality felt completely different. First and biggest issue — hygiene. The washroom, bathroom area, wash basin, and kitchen space were not clean at all. Dust everywhere, broken washroom setup, and overall maintenance felt ignored. The washroom privacy is also a major concern, especially for female travellers. Honestly, I would not recommend this place for solo female travellers or families looking for a comfortable stay. The hostel is basically just one room with around 10 beds and very limited proper hostel facilities. There’s no proper hostel board outside, so even finding the place becomes confusing. The staircase and passage area are extremely narrow, making luggage movement difficult. Kitchen condition was poor and didn’t feel hygienic enough to even use comfortably. Another frustrating thing was the AC situation. They advertise AC facility, but the control stays with the owner, and the AC was turned off in the middle of the night. If travellers are paying for AC accommodation, basic control or proper timing should be available. Otherwise, this should be informed clearly before booking. Also, no proper toiletries like body wash or essentials were available. Water service was inconsistent too. On top of that, they seemed extremely cautious about payment and billing. During check-in, the focus was more on collecting money quickly than guest comfort. The only positive part was that they did help with local recommendations and famous food places in Ujjain. But honestly, that alone cannot balance the stay experience. Looking back, I’d strongly suggest spending a little extra and choosing a better hostel option like Zostel Ujjain or even other backpacker stays a round ₹700 rather than paying ₹550 here and compromising on cleanliness and comfort. Overall, not happy with the stay at all. Ujjain has much better accommodation options available — choose wisely.

  Had one of the best hostel experiences at Spiritual Backpackers. The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming—more like a friend than a hostel owner. He makes sure every guest feels comfortable and at home. The hostel is very clean, well-maintained, and offers excellent facilities, including comfortable AC rooms. The atmosphere is peaceful, safe, and perfect for travelers looking for a homely experience. Everything was organized, hygienic, and the hospitality was outstanding. It truly felt like a home away from home. Highly recommended and definitely a must-visit place for backpackers and solo travelers. Will surely stay here again!

  I went to ujjain on 8 aug 20206. I wanted to travel alone and was searching for a cheap and best. I searched on AI for the available options and AI suggested me spiritual backpackers. I went on with with AI's suggestion and landed in spiritual backpackers. After staying there for 4 days I recommend all the solo travels to accord spiritual backpackers as the primary option for ujjain. One of best I have experienced during my journeys. Especially the staff is very cooperative and guides you in every aspect of journey pertaining to time, places to visit and cost to incur making your stay a remarkable. Just land there tell choice of interested places and no of days you to want stay at ujjain. Tanish will give optimal plan for journey. Really enjoyed my trip and thanks to spiritual backpackers

  Had an amazing stay at this hostel for 2 days! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The owner was incredibly friendly and always ready to help. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it easy to meet new people and feel at home. The location was also perfect, with easy access to nearby attractions. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely love to stay here again. Highly recommended!

  I stayed here for the past 4 days and there is no better place in Ujjain for a comfortable safe stay! Location is right on center. Easily accessible from railway station and near to temple as well. The highlight here will be the host who helps you in each & everything. Has good idea about the place and suggests you hidden gems, tips & tricks. Overall it was a pleasant stay. Will come back again..
